The Colorado Plateau Foundation funds organizations that meet the following requirements.

Non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations ▴ Organizations with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor ▴ Tribal governments with IRS 7871 status ▴ Applicants from one of the following nine tribal nations on the Colorado Plateau: Acoma, Havasupai, Hopi, Hualapai, Kaibab Paiute, Navajo, Ute Mountain Ute, White Mountain Apache & Zuni
Proposals submitted by organizations working in four priority areas: Protection of water ▴ Protection of landscapes and sacred sites ▴ Preservation of language ▴ Sustainable, community-based agriculture. Proposals for building skills and leadership capabilities that will contribute to the long-term sustainability of your organization. Proposals in the range of $1,000- $25,000.
Fundraising events ▴ Individuals ▴ Non-Native led organizations ▴ Operating expenses ▴ Programing

Skilled writing helps our grantees share their stories with the world. We support trainings and workshops that hone writing and communication.


Technical Skills

We support our grantees becoming the experts that their communities need through technical and vocational training specific to organizational goals.



Developing fluency in technology through trainings, webinars, and coaching bolsters our grantees’ organizational capacity.


Financial Fluency

We support trainings, workshops, and coaching that strengthen grantees’ abilities to internally manage finances, conduct accounting, and efficiently administer their organizations.


Professional Development

We believe in networks and the power of relationships. We support our grantees attending conferences and workshops that create working relationships with other professionals.
